HB 58 amends Code Sections 16-5-20, 16-5-23, 16-5-23.1, 16-11-102, 16-11-131 of the O.C.G.A mandating that those convicted of simple assault and family violence would be prohibited from receiving, possessing, or transporting firearms in the state of Georgia. Additionally, the legislation would require those who are convicted of the aforementioned charges to surrender their firearms to an authorized federal firearms dealer.
